My name is Shayan, welcome to my blog. This blog is going to be a mixture of poems and general blogging, in terms of writing that feels like I am just having a conversation with you. This year, has been the strangest year to say the least and the most eye opening year to say the most. I reckon, this was the year that everybody realised something about themselves. 

When have we ever pressed pause, just to understand what is happening in the movie? Sometimes, taking a moment to take a look at what is going on, is the exact thing we need going forward. Of course, it is devastating times, for those who have been forced to close their businesses down, even more so, for those who unfortunately have lost loved ones. However, each era, has it's difficulties followed by a major tragedy. In this case, we never had a pandemic that our whole livelihood has been changed and now we must follow guidelines, rules, mostly based around social distancing and covering our face. We can complain about that, but what good is it to come plain?

Any ordinary person, can throw their hands in the air and spew out negativity. It is easier, to criticise and call the world dark and grey, than to call it beautiful - especially in times such as now. How can one be all high and vibrant like a child, if we process tragedies, corruption and feel pain, heartbreak, loss and get depression that comes with life?  Self- care and discovery is the answer, that we value .In the era, where self-help is seen as normal, we can begin to take pride in developing ourselves. In the era, where it is not taboo to talk about mental health, men can begin to realise it's not unmanly to cry and let me toxic emotions out. We are not robots.

Certain things in life, can either make us more rigid or more open towards feeling better about our reality. Dr Joe Dispenza said, 'Our personality shapes our personal reality'. Which is true. Imagine two people walking down the street, one says 'that street is very depressing'. The other guy walks down the street and says 'this same street is the most vibrant place on earth!' Is he telling their truth? So which one is telling the truth on reality?

One is focused on the homeless man's stench, the loud repetitive beeping from the cars and says 'that street is overly crowded, people kept beeping and there was a smelly homeless man asking for money'. His perception is shaped by his personal reality. His personal reality is shaped by his emotions which is shaped by his focus. Now, on the other hand, the other guy, is focused on the homeless man's smile, the hustle and bustle of everyday life and says 'that street is vibrant, everybody is on the move! and I just looked at this homeless man and he gave me the warmest smile!'. 

So two walk down the same street, yet two different experiences. It reminds me of those who take a holiday and don't exactly enjoy it because they are wired to look for problems and are bounded by everyday stress. Perhaps, someone who doesn't bother booking a holiday, because they would already tell themselves in two weeks I have to be home, so what is the point in going'. That's cutting of possibilities of enjoying their freedom! All from overly using a phrase, 'back to reality'. 

I feel we have many people who feel like this about the current climate. So much bad going on, that there is no point in enjoying life because of Boris to Trump, to the reason for Black Lives Matter to whatever is his face.

Yet, there are many who see the positive, the silver-lining in all of this, those who see the same street but focus on the good. Those are the ones, who look at life just a little deeper...
